43-yr Old Cashapp Founder, Bob Lee Stabbed To Death In San Francisco

TECHNOLOGY- Tech executive Bob Lee, Cash App creator and chief product officer of cryptocurrency company MobileCoin, died after an apparent stabbing in do San Francisco early Tuesday.

The San Francisco Police Department responded to reported stabbing at around 2:35 a.m. Tuesday – and found a 43-year-old man “suffering from apparent stab wounds,” according to a news release.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Police did not identify the man by name. Sources identified Lee to NBC Bay Area and CBS Bay Area – and his death was confirmed by MobileCoin CEO Josh Goldbard.

“Our dear friend and colleague, Bob Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 43, survived by a loving family and collection of close friends and collaborators,” Goldbard said in a statement sent to USA TODAY Wednesday morning.

“Bob was a dynamo, a force of nature… He was made for the world that is being born right now, he was a child of dreams, and whatever he imagined, no matter how crazy, he made real,” Goldbard continued.

In addition to working as chief product officer of MobileCoin, Lee previously served as the first chief technology officer of Square – when he helped create Cash App, Goldbard said.
