President Tinubu Meets Royal Fathers, Read What He Told Them

NIGERIA- The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III on Friday told President Bola Tinubu that given the number of challenges in the country at this time, royal fathers do not envy him as a leader.

He made the statement when the President met with royal fathers from the six geo-political zones under the aegis of the National Council of Traditional Rulers at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The President informed them of his government’s decision to remove fuel subsidies, improve security, create jobs, and sustain the environment as well as the forthcoming election of principal officers of the 10th National Assembly.

“We are all ears. We are ready to listen at any given time. I promise you an open-door policy and that is the way I will go,” Tinubu said.

“That open-door policy is for you to call me and send to me at any given time any concern that you might have.

“We may not have it right 100 percent of the time but we must get it right 90 percent of the time for this country.”

Leading the group on the visit, the Sultan of Sokoto however assured the President of the support and loyalty of the royal fathers, underlining their availability at any time it is required.

The royal fathers also reposed confidence in the Tinubu-led administration and the ‘Renewed Hope’ mantra which they believe will lead the country on a path of progress.

In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Adewusi, who chanted ‘Use Us’ severally, urged President Tinubu to make more use of the traditional rulers particularly in tackling the challenge of insecurity.

THEIR DISCUSSION

President Bola Tinubu said that he has asked the traditional rulers and their representatives from across the country to support his administration.

He made the call during a meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja on Friday.

Tinubu disclosed this in a post on his Twitter page on Friday.

The meeting is part of a series of engagements the president is having with key stakeholders since he assumed office on May 29.

He tweeted, “I enjoyed my engagement, this morning, with a gathering of traditional rulers from across the country.

“In the course of our dialogue, I tasked them with supporting the administration’s efforts to ensure lasting peace and unity by promoting responsible behaviour and patriotism.”
