Israel Shuts Northern Schools Amid Hezbollah Rocket Fire

Israel’s civil defense agency ordered all schools in the northern region to close on Sunday, following intensified rocket fire from the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

The military’s Home Front Command stated that all educational institutions and activities in the north would remain suspended until at least 6:00 pm on Monday (1500 GMT) as cross-border hostilities escalate.

The move comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been engaged in heavy exchanges of fire in recent days. The violence has forced authorities to implement stringent safety measures in the region.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s health ministry announced on Sunday that the death toll from an Israeli air strike targeting Hezbollah military commanders in Beirut’s southern suburbs had risen to 45.

The strike, which occurred on Friday, initially left 37 people dead. Rescue workers have continued to clear rubble for three days, and authorities are using DNA sampling to identify some of the victims.

The escalating conflict has raised fears of a broader confrontation as cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah continue.
