US Embassy Introduces New Visa Process for Nigerian Applicants

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced a new visa process for applicants with interviews scheduled after January 1, 2025.

According to the embassy’s recent post on X (formerly Twitter), applicants will now be required to make at least two visits to the Consulate General in Lagos as part of their immigration visa process.

The first visit will involve an “In-Person Document Review” with a consular officer.

This review is designed to ensure that applicants are prepared for their visa interviews and allows them to retrieve any missing documents ahead of time, thereby avoiding delays in application processing.

The second visit will be an interview with a Consular Officer, scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC). Applicants who fail to complete the In-Person Document Review before their visa interview will be required to reschedule their appointment.

The embassy emphasized that the changes are aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing delays caused by incomplete documentation.

This new process is expected to improve the overall experience for immigrant visa applicants in Nigeria.
