Dangote Refinery Begins Petrol Export To African Countries, Eyes Global Market

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced the export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to several African countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa.

According to the Vice President of Oil and Gas, Dangote Industries Limited, Dr. Devakumar Edwin, the refinery has also been exporting diesel worldwide and jet fuel to European markets. “Our products are already making their mark internationally,” he disclosed.

Dr. Edwin made this revelation during a recent visit by a delegation from the Japanese Business Community in Nigeria, led by Japan’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo. The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration between Nigerian and Japanese businesses.

The Dangote Refinery, which is the largest single-train refinery complex in the world, is a testament to Nigeria’s technological advancements and its potential to become a major player in the global petroleum industry. The facility was designed and built by Nigerians, and it is expected to create a virtuous cycle of industrial development, job creation, and economic prosperity in Nigeria.

The refinery’s Managing Director noted that the project would significantly boost investment in downstream industries, creating substantial value, generating employment, increasing tax revenues, reducing foreign exchange outflows, and contributing to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Japanese delegation was impressed by the state-of-the-art technology on display at the refinery, describing it as a “miracle” and one of the “wonders of the world.” They expressed their willingness to collaborate with Nigerian businesses, particularly the Dangote Refinery, in various sectors.

With its export of petrol to African countries, the Dangote Refinery is poised to become a major player in the global petroleum industry, promoting economic growth and development in Nigeria and beyond.
