Lagos State Constructs 1,000-Bed Mental Health, Rehabilitation Centre

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is leading the development of the Lagos State Mental Health Institute, a Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Centre located in Ketu Ejirin, Epe Local Government Area.

Spanning approximately 25 hectares, the facility will have a capacity of 1,000 beds and serve as a specialized rehabilitation centre for individuals with mental health conditions. It is designed to offer comprehensive care, including recreational and vocational programs, to support full recovery and reintegration into society.

The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, Jubril Gawat, announced this development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

His post read: “Governor of Lagos State, Mr. #JideSanwoOlu is constructing the Lagos State Mental Health Institute, a Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu Ejirin, Epe Local Government Area.

“The facility, spanning approximately 25 hectares, will have a 1,000-bed capacity and serve as a rehabilitation centre for individuals with mental health conditions. It will also function as a comprehensive rehabilitation home, featuring recreational and vocational centres to support the full recovery and reintegration of people with psychiatric illnesses.”
