Bishop Isaac Oluyamo calls for reconciliation after Osun governorship electionThe Diocesan Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Dr Isaac Oluyamo, has appealed to residents of the Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District to accept Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi’s apology and put the political disagreements surrounding the recent Osun governorship election behind them.
Oluyamo appealed during a prayer session at Open Heaven Anglican Church, Ilase-Ijesa, where he called for forgiveness, reconciliation and the restoration of relationships across the district.
The bishop specifically appealed to constituents to look beyond the disagreements generated during the election campaign and recognise Fadahunsi’s contributions to the district, particularly his programmes focused on youth empowerment and community development.
He also committed the senator, his family and public service to God, while urging residents not to allow political differences to permanently damage friendships, family ties and community relations.
According to the cleric, political campaigns and elections are temporary, while the relationships and communities affected by political contests must continue long after the ballots have been counted.
The appeal comes after Fadahunsi apologised over remarks made during the build-up to the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election. Reports said the senator later explained that the comments were made amid tensions following the deaths of members of his political party and denied intending to promote violence.
Oluyamo also congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his election victory and prayed for wisdom and divine direction as he begins his second term in office.
He called for peace across Osun State and prayed for the healing of wounds created by political disagreements.
“As Osun State moves forward, the prayer is that God will preserve the state, prosper its people, strengthen its leadership, heal every wound of political contestation and usher the people into a season of peace, progress and monumental divine breakthroughs,” the bishop said.
The cleric also prayed for the safety of residents, particularly against road accidents, sudden deaths and other tragedies across the state.
As part of his visit, Oluyamo inspected the proposed site of Obokun University in Ilase-Ijesa and prayed for the speedy completion of the project.
He said the institution could provide opportunities for learning and contribute to youth development in the area.
The service also featured prayers for the ember months and a tribute to The Revd. Canon Julius Olufemi and Mrs Mary Kehinde Adekunle, who were honoured following their retirement from active church service.
Drawing from Psalm 23, Oluyamo urged the congregation to trust in God for guidance through changing political seasons.
He called on the people of Ijesaland to forgive past grievances, repair strained relationships and work together towards peace and development across the region.
