Man U Reportedly Open Talks With Martin Dubravka

English football club Manchester United in a piece of recent information has opened talks over a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, report Sky Sports.

Martin was left out of the club’s Carabao Cup squad tonight amid speculation over his future. He is said to be ‘open to the move’.

This is the latest twist in Manchester United’s search for a new goalkeeper, which has seen several names linked this summer.

It has not been quite clear whether the club is searching for a number two, moving Tom Heaton down to third choice, or a player who will genuinely compete with David de Gea to be number one.

Dubravka will increase pressure on De Gea, but the Spaniard will still fancy his chances of retaining his jersey.

The Athletic report Manchester United is proposing a loan move for Dubravka, rather than a permanent switch.

This is not the first time Martin Dubravka’s name has been linked with Manchester United, the club were reported to have made an approach for the goalkeeper back in January.

The Manchester Evening News reported there were discussions over a possible swap deal at the time involving Dean Henderson, but Dubravka was not keen on the switch, so a deal fell through.

At the time Dubravka was Newcastle’s number one, but he has since lost his place to new signing Nick Pope, so his changed situation will have prompted his reported change of heart over a move.

Dubravka, 33, made 26 Premier League starts for Newcastle last season. He played all 38 games in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.
