Access Bank Denies Allegations of Missing N500 Million, Calls Claims “Baseless”

Access Bank PLC has refuted accusations of unethical behavior and missing funds, following a social media influencer’s claims of a N500 million discrepancy in a customer’s account.

In a statement released on Sunday, the bank described the allegations as “baseless” and reassured customers of the safety and security of their funds, which it identified as a core operational priority.

The controversy began when social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, accused Access Bank of withholding N500 million allegedly belonging to the family of a deceased customer.

According to Mr. Otse, the deceased had informed his family of the funds held in multiple bank accounts, including an Access Bank account with the stated amount. However, when the family attempted to retrieve the funds, they discovered that the money was missing.

Access Bank responded by stating that allegations of missing funds are untrue and baseless. The bank claimed to have conducted a thorough investigation alongside other independent stakeholders in the banking industry, reaching the same conclusions.

The bank emphasized its adherence to the highest ethical standards while protecting customers’ interests and respecting privacy laws.
