Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and senator-elect, Godswill Akpabio, has announced his ambition to be the next Senate President.
In a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Akpabio promised to bring about reforms and empower the youth through legislation and policy-making.
“Akpabio is known as an uncommon transformer. Akpabio is known as a man who is results-oriented,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in his Cabinet and presented his Certificate of Return.
The race for the Senate Presidency is heating up as another aspirant, Abdul’Aziz Yari, also met with Buhari and urged the All Progressives Congress to allow the North to produce the next Senate leader.
It remains to be seen who will emerge as the next Senate President, but Akpabio’s ambition adds a new twist to the race.
