Suspected terrorists have abducted an unknown number of traders traveling along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, amidst rising insecurity in Nigeria’s northern region.
In a separate incident, bandits attacked Mera community in Kebbi State’s Augie Local Government Area, leaving 15 residents dead.
Deputy Governor Abubakar Umar Tafida, who confirmed the attack, visited the scene to express condolences and vowed that the state government would bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera, also mourned the victims, urging unity and resilience. The deceased were buried in a ceremony attended by state officials and community leaders.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, two security personnel lost their lives in Jibia LGA during a confrontation with armed bandits. The attack, which occurred late Thursday night, also left five others injured.
Katsina State Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that a joint security team repelled the attackers, rescuing 16 victims and forcing the assailants to retreat.
