The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged food poisoning incident at a wedding in Jahun Local Government Area, which left a guest dead and the groom critically ill.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident and stated that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the case.
“We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill. The command is working tirelessly to uncover the facts,” Adam said.
The tragedy occurred during the wedding reception, where several guests reportedly consumed the tainted food. While the groom remains hospitalized, authorities are yet to confirm the motive behind the alleged act.
Adam assured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring justice, adding, “We urge the public to remain calm and trust that justice will be served.”
