The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has greenlit a “Nigeria First” economic policy aimed at prioritizing locally manufactured goods and services in government procurements.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this after Monday’s FEC meeting in Abuja.
The policy, set to be backed by an executive order, seeks to promote a business culture that favors local products.
“No foreign goods or devices already being produced locally will be procured without a clear and justified reason,” Idris explained.
The initiative aims to drive government investment in local industries, reshape procurement processes, and stimulate economic growth.
Idris described it as a bold move to build a confident, Nigerian-centric economy.
