A devastating fire broke out at a market in the popular Trademore Estate, located along Umar Musa Yar’Adua/Airport Road in Abuja, early Monday morning.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but eyewitnesses suspect an electrical fault may have been the culprit.
Chaos erupted around 4 a.m. as the blaze engulfed the shops, sending shop owners rushing to salvage what they could from the inferno. Efforts to determine the extent of the damage and the source of the fire are ongoing.
According to eyewitness Tosin Adeleke, the situation was intense, with residents initially unable to contact the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service.
However, a fire service team from Dunamis Church eventually arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. to assist in battling the blaze.
After a two-hour battle, personnel from the Federal Fire Service stations at the EFCC and Sauka successfully extinguished the fire.
The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the incident has left many shop owners counting their losses.
