Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his administration will not be deterred by opponents.
He stated that he has strong faith in God and a robust support base. Fubara made this assertion at the 2025 New Year State banquet in Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday night.
The governor expressed confidence in his ability to overcome any challenges posed by his detractors, who he claims have no “strong face in Rivers politics.”
Fubara named several prominent individuals as his core supporters, including former Governors Peter Odili and Celestine Omehia, as well as erstwhile Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Uche Secondus and former Transport Minister Abiye Sekibo.
Fubara acknowledged that his opponents had made things difficult for his administration and the people of Rivers State in the past year.
However, he vowed to protect the state’s integrity at all costs, stating that he will not allow anyone to take the state for a ride. The governor emphasized that his administration will follow due process and will not engage in unnecessary conflicts.
In a statement, Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, noted that the governor’s administration will defeat its detractors with the support of Odili and other Rivers State politics stalwarts.
Fubara also thanked his supporters, including Senators John Azuta-Mbata, Lee Maeba, Andrew Uchendu, and Adawari Pepple, as well as Ambassador Orji Ngofa.
The governor’s declaration comes amidst an ongoing faceoff with former Governor Nyesom Wike, who has received support from other stakeholders in the state.
Despite this, Fubara remains resolute in his commitment to delivering good governance to the people of Rivers State.
