The House of Representatives has postponed its resumption date from the annual vacation by one week, moving it from Tuesday, September 17, to Tuesday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m.
The change was announced by the House spokesman, Hon. Akintunde Rotimi, on Thursday.
Rotimi stated that the decision to delay resumption was communicated to members through an internal memo from the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, following the directive of the House Leadership. No reason was provided for the shift in the resumption date.
Upon resumption, the House will inaugurate the new board of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and the Joint Senate/House Ad Hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry Investigation on Wednesday, September 25.
During the recess, members of the House engaged in extensive constituency outreach across the country, addressing critical issues affecting their constituents and conducting oversight of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as mandated by the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the House Standing Orders.
Rotimi noted that as the 10th Assembly reconvenes, it will continue to advance its Legislative Agenda, focusing on impactful reforms and national development.
The House is expected to prioritize its mandate to the Nigerian people by driving legislative initiatives that address pressing national issues and enhance governance.
