Igboho Submits Petition to UK Prime Minister for Yoruba Nation

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has taken a significant step towards actualizing the Yoruba nation by submitting a petition to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The petition, submitted on behalf of Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, leader of the Yoruba Nation movement, seeks the UK government’s intervention in establishing a country predominantly owned by indigenous Yoruba people.

Igboho’s spokesman, Koiki, announced the petition’s delivery via his X page, stating it was submitted at 14:00 hrs to 10 Downing Street. This move is part of Igboho’s ongoing efforts to achieve Yoruba nationhood, which has been met with resistance from the Nigerian government.

Previously, Akintoye accused the Nigerian government of attempting to coerce Igboho into abandoning his agitation. Specifically, Akintoye alleged that former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, offered Igboho billions of naira to renounce his support for the Yoruba nation while in prison.

However, Igboho reportedly refused to sign the document.

The Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM), led by Prof. Akintoye, aims to achieve sovereignty for the Yoruba people through peaceful means. The movement seeks international support and engagement with the Nigerian state to realize its goals.

As the Yoruba nation movement gains momentum, Igboho’s petition to the UK Prime Minister marks a significant escalation in the quest for self-determination.

The outcome of this petition remains uncertain, but it underscores the determination of the Yoruba people to establish their own nation.
