Inspector-General of Police Orders Investigation into NSCDC, Police Clash

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a discreet investigation into the public confrontation between officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo, Osun State.

The altercation, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday at Elizabeth Estate, Osogbo, was captured in a viral video that prompted the IGP’s response. The clash resulted in the arrest and detention of NSCDC personnel by the Osun State Police Command.

Expressing displeasure at the unprofessionalism and public display of dichotomy, IGP Egbetokun directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, to uncover the root cause of the incident.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Saturday, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the need for calm, reassuring that the Nigeria Police Force, under his leadership, will collaborate with relevant security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for Nigeria.

The IGP’s directive aims to address the underlying issues that led to the confrontation and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The investigation’s outcome will be crucial in promoting inter-agency cooperation and maintaining public trust in the nation’s security forces.
