Amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda has resigned from her position.
However, the crisis remains unresolved, as divisions persist within the Assembly and the state’s APC leadership over Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s removal.
Before announcing her resignation, lawmakers took turns to commend Mojisola Meranda for her legislative acumen, diligence, and performance during her short tenure as Deputy Speaker.
Desmond Olusola Elliot praised her leadership, stating that she had led the House effectively.
Another lawmaker, Temitope Adewale (Ifako-Ijaiye I), described her as a “heroine of democracy,” saying, “You came, you saw, you conquered. You are a victim of circumstance. This House is in tears.”
