The Kaduna State Police Command has intercepted 15 unsewn military camouflage materials and detained two suspected car thieves in separate operations.
The spokesperson for the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this on Tuesday in Kaduna.
In the first incident, police operatives, during a routine patrol on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Highway on August 25, discovered a black leather bag containing 15 pieces of unsewn military camouflage materials.
The suspect reportedly admitted that the materials were intended for delivery to someone in Udawa Village, who would then pass them on to bandits in the Chukuba area of Shiroro LGA, Niger State.
In another operation on Tuesday, a police patrol team in Makarfi engaged in a shootout with armed robbers who had blocked a road with logs and stones.
The superior firepower of the police forced the robbers to flee into nearby bushes. During the exchange, one of the robbers was neutralized, and a locally made pistol along with a cartridge was recovered. The police are continuing to search the area for the remaining suspects.
Additionally, the police arrested two suspected car thieves, Abdul Mukhtar and Mamman Ahmad, after recovering a stolen blue-black Toyota in the Hayin Dan Mani area of Igabi LGA. The suspects confessed to using a master key to steal vehicles.
An investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of their activities and identify any other accomplices.
