POLICE- In a recent development, the Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected motorcycle thieves in the Nasarawa Local Government Area.
Zubairu Ali, aged 27, and Salisu Buhari, aged 24, were apprehended by police operatives in a sting operation on April 6th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel.
The command’s spokesperson further narrated that its operatives also arrested one Zubeiru Ali, who partnered with Buhari to steal motorcycles from residents of the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Nansel said, “On April 6, 2023 around 10pm, police operatives attached to Nasarawa Division in a sting operation arrested the duo of Zubairu Ali, 27 years, and Salisu Buhari, 24 years, for motorcycle theft in Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are responsible for most motorcycle snatching and theft in Nasarawa LGA and its environs.
“Upon interrogation, Salisu Buhari confessed to have escaped from Kuje Prison when the facility was attacked last year, linked up with his crony, and went into criminal venture.”
While warning all criminal elements to leave the state without further delay, the PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, for a thorough investigation.
