Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, and other lawmakers are currently holding a meeting outside the assembly chambers.
The meeting is taking place ahead of a plenary session originally scheduled for 1 p.m.
Also in attendance are leaders of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including the party’s chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi. The state Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), is also present at the meeting.
Speculation is growing that the leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly may soon be resolved, as unconfirmed reports suggest that Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda is expected to resign today.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa arrived at the meeting around 1:30 p.m., joining other lawmakers under a tent where discussions were taking place.
Currently, Obasa, Meranda, APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, and Attorney General Lawal Pedro (SAN) have broken away from the larger group to hold a separate meeting.
