Lagos Government Orders Closure Of Oshodi Pedestrian Bridge Over Safety Issues

The Lagos State Government has announced the immediate closure of the pedestrian bridge linking Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3 due to safety concerns.

In a statement released on Friday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted issues with the bridge’s structural integrity, raising alarms about its condition.

As part of the directive, the contractor responsible for the terminal’s initial construction has been instructed, through the Office of Infrastructure, to install concrete barriers at the bridge entrances. This measure is intended to protect pedestrians and prevent access to the compromised structure.

The commissioner stated that the closure will allow for a thorough structural integrity assessment of the bridge to determine if it needs repairs or a complete reconstruction.

He urged pedestrians to use an alternative bridge situated 30 meters away during the assessment period.
