The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Federal Government to ensure that loans disbursed by the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to tertiary institutions are utilized effectively.
NANS’ senate president, Babatunde Afeez Akinteye, emphasized the need for close monitoring to prevent the mismanagement of funds. He noted that simply providing billions of Naira in loans is insufficient without proper oversight.
Akinteye also addressed the issue of school fees increment, stating that students are opposed to any fee hikes by public schools. He emphasized that NELFUND loans should not be used to justify increased fees, which would place additional financial burdens on students.
Meanwhile, National President of NANS, Lucky Emonefe, encouraged students in need of financial assistance to explore NELFUND loans, highlighting the transparent and seamless application process.
