Nigeria Immigration Service Launches Contactless Passport Application System For Nigerians In Europe

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the launch of its contactless passport application system in some European countries to simplify the process of passport acquisition and renewal for Nigerians residing abroad.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi, quoted the NIS Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, as saying that the new system will take effect in Europe starting today, February 7.

NIS Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, announced that Nigerians in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland will be the first in Europe to benefit from the contactless passport application system.

She noted that the system was initially launched in Canada on November 5, 2024, and that its rollout in Europe marks the second phase of the initiative for Nigerians in the diaspora.

“For clarity, the contactless passport application, available on the Google Play Store (NIS Mobile), enables Nigerians to renew their passports without needing to visit a passport center for biometric enrollment,” Nandap stated.

The NIS Comptroller General reaffirmed the service’s commitment to innovation and efficient service delivery for Nigerians worldwide.
