NNPC Seeks Firms to Manage Warri, Kaduna Refineries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced plans to engage reputable and credible Operations and Maintenance companies to operate and maintain the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company.

NNPC disclosed this development on Friday through a statement on its official X handle.

The Warri refinery, located in Delta State and commissioned in 1978, is a complex conversion facility with a distillation capacity of 125,000 barrels per day (bpd).

The refinery also features a petrochemical plant, launched in 1988, which produces 13,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black, primarily serving the south and southwest regions of Nigeria.

Commissioned in 1980, the Kaduna refinery was initially built to supply petroleum products to Northern Nigeria with a capacity of 50,000 bpd.

Subsequent expansions in 1983 and 1986 increased the facility’s current nameplate capacity to 110,000 bpd, including dedicated units for lubricating oils production.
