The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has commended the gallantry and professionalism of Nigeria’s security forces for the successful rescue of 19 kidnapped victims, including former NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), and Ambassador Gideon Yohana.
Speaking while receiving the rescued individuals, Ribadu praised the collaborative efforts of the armed forces and intelligence agencies, describing the operation as a remarkable achievement. “We have done it again. This time, it involves very powerful, important personalities who served this country,” he said. He assured that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
Ribadu noted that significant progress had been made in the fight against insecurity under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. “In one year and 10 months, we have literally changed the whole narrative. Now the bad people are feeling it, and we will not relent until the end of this,” he said.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, also expressed gratitude to the NSA for fostering inter-agency cooperation. He reiterated the military’s commitment to ensuring the safety and freedom of all Nigerians, adding that enemies of the nation would not be allowed to rest.
National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Coordinator, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, disclosed that the victims were rescued from various locations, including Gadan Maga village in Kaduna State. Both Amb. Yohana and Brig.-Gen. Tsiga thanked the security forces for their efforts, attributing their survival to the mercy of God and the dedication of Nigeria’s military and security personnel.
