The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Noimot Salako Oyedele, has officially unveiled the fifth edition of the Dapo Abiodun Youth Programme, a flagship end-of-year event that combines entertainment with youth empowerment.
The announcement was made during a meeting with the organizers at her Oke Mosan office on Monday.
Scheduled for December 20 at the June 12 Cultural Centre, this year’s event will focus on celebrating stakeholders and leaders who have supported youth-focused initiatives.
Unlike last year, which centered on discussions around national issues and youth participation, the programme will prioritize honoring individuals who have contributed to advancing youth ideals.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor highlighted the critical role of youth in Ogun State’s socio-economic growth, emphasizing the importance of creativity and innovation. She described the youth as the state’s driving force for peace and economic improvement and called for more robust engagement between young people and the government. She pledged the government’s full support for the event.
“The role of youth in the socio-cultural and economic landscape of the state cannot be overemphasized. Ogun youth are the future brands of the state and must be actively involved in leadership and development,” Salako Oyedele said.
The programme, which includes raffles, games, musical performances, and awards, aims to empower vulnerable youths and provide a sense of belonging under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to the Convener, Rasheed Aroboto, the event underscores the administration’s commitment to supporting Ogun State youth through targeted empowerment initiatives.
Aroboto, who also serves as the Special Adviser on Sports Development, reiterated the importance of reaching all areas of youth engagement. He described Ogun youth as “formidable determinants” of progress who deserve recognition and celebration.
The Dapo Abiodun Youth Programme Season 5 is expected to draw a large audience, reaffirming its position as a significant platform for fostering youth development in Ogun State.
