PDP National Working Committee Suspends Top Officials Amidst Internal Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has suspended two of its top officials, Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary, and Kamaldeen Ajibade, the national legal adviser, due to allegations of misconduct.

The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the PDP National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, on October 10, 2024.

The duo was suspended over allegations of disloyalty and insubordination leveled against them. This move is seen as part of the party’s efforts to address its internal crisis, which has been ongoing regarding the tenure of the acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, and issues of disciplining erring members.

The NWC has constituted a committee, headed by the PDP’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate the issues raised against the suspended officers. This committee will ensure that the investigation is conducted in compliance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

Following the suspension, the respective deputies to the two officers have been directed to assume office in acting capacity immediately. Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga will serve as the Acting National Publicity Secretary, while Okechukwu Osuoha will take on the role of Acting National Legal Adviser.

The NWC has urged all leaders, critical stakeholders, and supporters of the party to remain focused and committed as it navigates this challenging period.

The party’s internal crisis has been ongoing, with some members calling for the removal of the acting national chairman, Umar Damagum.
