The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye over alleged misconduct and anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced by the PDP executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, following Melaye’s refusal to respond to a summons.
According to the Ward exco, the decision to suspend Melaye was reached during a meeting in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday, where the party’s disciplinary committee report was reviewed. The meeting concluded that Melaye’s actions had brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party.
The suspension, which was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and Secretary, Yodson Dayo, cited Melaye’s continued membership as “no longer tenable” due to his conduct.
The party emphasized that the decision was in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which allows for disciplinary measures against members found to be errant.
The resolution stated, “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable. Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.”
Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi West, has yet to respond publicly to his suspension.
