Plateau Assembly Passes Supplementary Budget Of N109.7B

By Ezechie Awele- The Plateau House of Assembly has approved the supplemental budget of N109.7B that the state government submitted for consideration and approval for the 2025 financial year.

The plenary session was held at the old Government House in Rayfield, Jos, on Tuesday. The chairman of the House Committee on Budget and members representing Jo’s North presented a breakdown at the meeting, which included recurrent expenditure of N29.4B, while capital expenditure amounted to N80.6B

Aliyu added that there was an addendum from the state government amounting to N35.1B in addition to the supplementary budget of N74.6B earlier presented in September.

During the plenary also, the law to establish the Plateau State House of Assembly pension server Board and to administer the Contributory Pension Scheme was read for the first time.

Also, in another development, Daniel Nanbol Listick has urged the state government to direct the Ministry of Health, related departments, agencies, and hospitals to include Newborn Screening (NBS) for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in all state hospitals and public health facilities. He also stressed the urgency of saving lives and correcting narratives about Sickle Cell Disease.

Similarly, a coming by Chollom called onto the government and relevant security agencies to urgently address the worsening insecurity in the state.

Another member, Mark Na’ah, who was representing the Jo’s North West Constituency, who supported the motion, highlighted the need for synergy between security agencies and the Assembly to bridge existing gaps

However, members of the House of Assembly unanimously resolved to support initiatives aimed at improving the Welfare of Plateau citizens, including the New born Screening in the state health facilities.

They equally urged the government to prioritise security in Barkin Ladi Local Government and the state at large, while pledging closer collaboration with security agencies to address the insecurity and foster economic development.

The Speaker which was Naanlong Daniel then announced a recess while the plenary session will resume on September 30th.
