PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION: EKITI EMPTY AS FAYEMI ORDERS TRADITIONAL RULERS TO ABUJA

Ahead of Wednesday, May 4 presidential declaration of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, all notable traditional rulers in the state have been instructed to proceed to Abuja for the event or be dethroned.

Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum is set to make public his presidential ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, tomorrow.

As at the time of filing this report, traditional institution in the Southwest state is close to empty.

Our Correspondent reliably gathered that the royal fathers have to travel the distance from Ekiti to Abuja to make avoid the consequences of their absence at the declaration.

One of the traditional rulers told our source that although he has a frail health to embark on the trip, but he had no option because he did not want to be seen to the rebellious to the Governor’s order.

“You know that as royal fathers, we are at the mercy of the government; I cannot refuse to be in Abuja even with my health because the Governor may enforce his threat,” the anonymous monarch said.

The Ekiti state governor had through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode disclosed that he had carried out widespread consultations to throw his hat in the presidential race.

“The Wednesday’s declaration, tagged “Unveiling My Nigeria Agenda”, is the climax of the Governor’s extensive consultations across the geo-political zones in the last six weeks. It will also lay to rest speculations on whether he would run for the Presidency or not.

“Dr Fayemi, had after discussing his plan to run for the number one office with President Muhammadu Buhari last month, sought counsel, guidance and support from traditional and political leaders across states in the federation,” Oyebode said.
