Pump Price Hike: Dangote Group Denies NNPC’s Statement Says No Contract Has Been Signed

The Dangote Group has refuted claims that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is lifting petrol from its refinery at N897 per litre, stating that no contract has been finalized between the two companies.

In a statement on Thursday, The Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina dismissed a recent headline alleging NNPC was selling Dangote’s refined Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at an inflated price.

Chiejina clarified that NNPCL has not started lifting petrol from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and emphasized that Dangote Group does not set fuel prices.

“The issue of fixing the price of petrol lifted from our refinery does not arise, as we are yet to finalize our contract with NNPC,” Chiejina stated.

He also reiterated that the PMS market is regulated by government authorities, and Dangote Group has no influence over product pricing.

The statement urged the public to disregard false reports and assured Nigerians of the company’s commitment to transparency.

The Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Aliko Dangote, noted that the Federal Executive Council is working on a new pricing framework for petrol produced by the refinery, which will be finalized soon.
