The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adatu Abubakar, has announced that Saturday, March 1, 2025, will mark the beginning of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims.
This declaration follows reports of the sighting of the new crescent moon, which were verified and accepted by Muslim leaders across the country.
In his announcement, the Sultan urged Muslims to use the sacred month of Ramadan to pray for the country and its leaders at all levels. He also emphasized the importance of giving to the vulnerable, so they can also benefit from the blessings of the holy month.
The Sultan reminded Muslims to commence fasting and devote themselves to worshiping Almighty Allah. He also called for peace and unity among Muslims, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
With the start of Ramadan, Muslims around the world will observe a month of fasting, prayer, and charity, seeking spiritual growth and renewal.
