Nigeria and China have pledged to elevate their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, aiming to boost trade and economic cooperation.
This commitment was made during a meeting between Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday in Beijing.
During the talks, both leaders agreed to build a high-level Nigeria-China community with a shared future, marking a significant advancement in their half-century-long relationship.
Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s potential as Africa’s largest economy and its capacity for economic growth driven by its young population.
The meeting concluded with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on areas including the Belt and Road Initiative, peaceful nuclear energy applications, human resource development, and media cooperation.
Tinubu, also attending as Chairman of ECOWAS, highlighted the importance of this partnership for regional stability and development in West Africa.
