A Senior Advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, Mr. Massad Boulos, has conveyed Trump’s renewed interest in strengthening direct ties with Nigeria, describing the country as a key pillar in America’s engagement with Africa.
This was disclosed in a statement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, following a meeting between President Tinubu and Boulos in Paris on Thursday.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in economic growth, security, energy, infrastructure development, and regional stability. Boulos, who currently serves as Trump’s Senior Advisor for Africa, emphasized the importance of fostering mutual investments and job creation efforts beneficial to both countries.
“The US wants to work closely with President Tinubu,” Boulos stated, noting Nigeria’s strategic value in the African region and praising Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to peace and development.
Both sides also discussed the need for increased collaboration on regional peace, with a spotlight on conflict zones such as the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Sahel.
Boulos highlighted the Trump administration’s recognition of Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa and expressed support for Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to stabilize troubled regions across the continent.
In response, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s willingness to build productive partnerships with the United States based on transparency, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.
He stressed that Nigeria seeks outcomes that elevate Africa’s standing in the global economy, adding that the country remains open to partnerships that promote growth and stability.
