U.S. President Donald Trump raised a record-breaking $239 million for his January inauguration, according to a Federal Election Commission filing released Sunday, more than twice the amount collected for his previous swearing-in ceremony.
The Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee received contributions from a wide range of donors, including major corporations such as Airbnb, McDonald’s, and Microsoft. Tech and financial powerhouses like Amazon, Meta, and JPMorgan Chase each contributed at least $1 million.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also donated $1 million to the event, which prominently featured figures from the tech industry.
The record-setting $239 million raised for Trump’s latest inauguration far surpasses the $107 million collected for his first swearing-in ceremony in January 2017.
It also significantly exceeds the typical fundraising totals for recent presidents. For comparison, Democrat Joe Biden raised about $61 million for his 2021 inauguration.
Notably, the $239 million figure does not include more than $6 million in donations that were later refunded.
By law, inaugural committees must disclose details of all contributions of $200 or more, and donations from foreign nationals are strictly prohibited.
Approximately a dozen billionaires attended Trump’s January inauguration, with social media users estimating their combined net worth at around $1 trillion — roughly equivalent to Switzerland’s GDP.
Among the high-profile attendees were Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, currently the world’s richest person. All were seated close by as Trump took the oath of office.
