NDLEA Seizes Cocaine and Opioids Hidden in Sanitary Pads, Hair Cream

The National Drug Law Enforcement
Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids concealed in ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers destined for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.

The seizures were made during routine examinations at logistics companies in Lagos, according to a statement from the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy.

During an inspection on Tuesday, September 3, officers recovered 30 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.1 kilograms hidden in hair cream containers at a logistics firm. The drugs were intended for shipment to Ireland.

Similarly, on Friday, September 6, another consignment containing 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862 grams, also concealed in hair cream containers and bound for the UK, was seized at the same company.

In a separate operation on September 3, NDLEA operatives seized 525 pills of tramadol 225mg and ecstasy (MDMA) hidden in sanitary pads at another courier firm. The drugs were meant for delivery to Cyprus.

Further investigations led to the interception of 200 ampoules of promethazine and pentazocine injections concealed in food items and herbs, bound for London on September 4.

The NDLEA said the latest seizures highlight the evolving tactics used by traffickers to evade detection and reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting the illicit drug trade.
