Digital financial services provider OPay has explained how customers can determine their eligibility for the Federal Government’s monthly N50,000 cash relief programme targeted at vulnerable Nigerians.
The company said the financial support is available only to qualified beneficiaries, urging customers to check their OPay mobile application for a notification indicating whether they are eligible.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, OPay explained that eligible customers would receive a pop-up notification on their app homepage, which they must click to proceed with the subsequent steps.
The company further clarified that customers who do not see the notification on their app are not eligible for the intervention.
OPay stressed that it does not determine who qualifies for the government-backed financial assistance, directing customers seeking further clarification to contact the National Electronic Registry for Social Intervention (NERSI).
“The ₦50,000 monthly Federal Government cash support is available only to eligible citizens. Eligible customers will see a pop-up notification on their OPay app homepage. Kindly click on the pop-up to proceed with the next steps,” the company stated.
It added, “Kindly note that customers who are unable to see the feature on the app are not eligible for it. Please note that we do not determine your eligibility. Kindly contact NERSI at 07000222222 for assistance.”
The clarification comes amid public interest in the Federal Government’s cash support initiative, with Nigerians seeking information on how to access the monthly financial assistance.
OPay advised customers to rely on notifications displayed within its official application and contact the designated agency for enquiries about their eligibility.
