A devastating wildfire sweeping through Los Angeles has claimed the life of retired Hollywood actress, Dalyce Curry.
The 95-year-old actress, known for her iconic roles in films such as “The Blues Brothers,” “The Ten Commandments,” and “Lady Sings the Blues,” perished in the blaze that ravaged her home in Altadena, California.
According to authorities, Curry’s remains were discovered at her burned-down property, confirming the worst fears of her family and loved ones.
Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, had last seen Curry on the evening of January 7, when she dropped her off at home. The following morning, Kelley attempted to check on her but was unable to pass police barricades near the area.
The family had launched a desperate search for Curry, scouring the Pasadena Civic Centre, which had been set up as a shelter for displaced residents.
However, their efforts were in vain, and it was only days later that officials confirmed the heartbreaking news that Curry’s remains had been found at the site of her destroyed home.
Curry’s passing is one of at least 24 fatalities reported in the Los Angeles area as a result of the fires.
The actress’s family has been left reeling from the loss, with her granddaughter, Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, remembering her as “very active” and someone who “would not think she was 95.”
Curry’s great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, took to Facebook to pay tribute to her beloved great-grandmother, writing, “About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE.”
The Los Angeles wildfires have continued to wreak havoc on the city, with thousands of residents displaced and properties destroyed. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with many of Curry’s colleagues and admirers taking to social media to pay tribute to the beloved actress.
As the city begins to come to terms with the scale of the devastation, the Curry family has been left to mourn the loss of a true Hollywood legend. Dalyce Curry’s legacy will live on through her iconic film roles, but for her loved ones, the pain of her loss will be felt for a long time to come.
