In a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, all Delta State members of the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during Tuesday’s plenary.
This development follows the recent defection of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori from the PDP to the APC.
The two leaders made their intentions public during a stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, Delta State.
The defections have sparked speculation about potential further losses for the PDP, with predictions of more high-profile exits.
However, former Senate President Bukola Saraki has vowed to reposition the PDP, stating that those who wish to leave are free to do so.
