Invite Sunday Igboho to Name Those Behind Oyo Students’ Abduction – Atiku’s Aide Urges DSS

A former aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to invite Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho for questioning following his claim that he knows those responsible for the recent abduction of students in Oyo State.

The call comes after Igboho publicly alleged that certain politicians were behind the kidnapping incident, a statement that has generated widespread public debate and concern.

According to Atiku’s former aide, such a serious allegation should not be ignored by security agencies. He argued that if Igboho possesses credible information regarding the perpetrators or sponsors of the abduction, he has a responsibility to share that intelligence with the appropriate authorities to aid ongoing investigations.

The aide maintained that security agencies must thoroughly investigate any claim connected to kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, or organized criminal activity, regardless of the source.

“If Sunday Igboho truly knows those behind the abduction, then the DSS should invite him to provide the information he claims to possess. Such intelligence could prove valuable in bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing future attacks,” he reportedly stated.

The controversy follows growing public concern over insecurity in parts of Oyo State after the abduction of students and school staff, an incident that triggered condemnation from political leaders, civil society groups, and community stakeholders.

Security analysts note that allegations involving unnamed politicians are particularly sensitive because they can fuel political tensions and public speculation if not supported by verifiable evidence.

As of now, neither the DSS nor other security agencies have publicly responded to the calls for Igboho to be questioned regarding his claims.

Meanwhile, investigations into the abduction continue, with authorities under pressure to identify those responsible and strengthen security measures to protect schools and communities across the state.

The development has once again highlighted the growing demand for accountability, intelligence-driven policing, and stronger collaboration between citizens and security agencies in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
