Invest Qatar, Aurion Capital and LG NOVA Partner To Drive Technology Investment and Venture Building In Qatar

Invest Qatar, the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, has entered into a strategic engagement with global investment group Aurion Capital and LG NOVA, the North America Innovation Centre of LG Electronics, to explore opportunities for technology investment, venture building and the commercialisation of emerging technologies in Qatar.

The collaboration, announced during a special edition of the Qatar Economic Forum Powered by Bloomberg on the sidelines of the 2026 United Nations General Assembly in New York, is anchored by a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the three parties.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in areas including targeted innovation programmes and scale-up support for high-growth sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, financial technology (FinTech), digital infrastructure, sports, media and entertainment.

As part of the collaboration, the parties are also exploring the establishment of a new hub at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). The facility is expected to serve as a regional platform for LG NOVA-affiliated technologies and ventures, supporting the expansion of advanced technology solutions and strengthening links between innovators, investors and industry partners.

The proposed hub would also help high-potential companies expand across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets.

Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, CEO of Invest Qatar, said the partnership would leverage Qatar’s research and development ecosystem, talent base, regulatory environment and digital infrastructure to support the testing, deployment and commercialisation of advanced technologies.

He said Qatar’s strategic location provides international investors with access to the wider MENA region and opportunities for regional expansion.

Ali Diallo, Founding CEO of Aurion Capital, said the partnership would connect innovation ecosystems across America, Asia, the Gulf and emerging markets.

According to Diallo, the collaboration with Invest Qatar and LG NOVA would focus on scaling technology companies, creating investment opportunities and strengthening cross-regional innovation.

Sokwoo Rhee, Executive Vice President of Corporate Innovation at LG Electronics and Head of LG NOVA, said the rapid development of AI was creating opportunities for new businesses and growth across multiple industries.

He said working with Invest Qatar and Aurion Capital would allow LG NOVA to connect its innovation ecosystem with Qatar and other global markets.

Under the engagement, Invest Qatar will work with Aurion Capital and LG NOVA to develop innovation-led programmes in collaboration with national stakeholders. It will also provide tailored facilitation and advisory support to Aurion Capital and LG NOVA-affiliated companies looking to establish or expand operations in Qatar.

Aurion Capital and LG NOVA will also explore the deployment of their global innovation capabilities and investment platforms to support technology testing, localisation and commercialisation in Qatar.

The parties said the collaboration aligns with Qatar’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional centre for research, development and innovation while attracting private-sector investment into priority sectors identified under the country’s National Development Strategy 3 (NDS3).

The initiative is ultimately aimed at supporting economic diversification and creating a stronger platform for high-growth technology ventures to develop and expand across the region.
