The European Investment Bank (EIB), in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and with support from the European Union, is strengthening Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through its Boost Africa initiative, aimed at helping innovative businesses secure funding, expertise and access to international markets.
The initiative seeks to unlock Africa’s entrepreneurial potential by supporting venture capital investments and providing technical assistance to emerging businesses across the continent.
Through Boost Africa, the development finance institutions are working to address some of the challenges facing African entrepreneurs, particularly limited access to funding, business expertise and strategic networks needed to expand their operations.

As part of efforts to showcase the initiative’s impact, the EIB has featured Daya, a Nigerian-linked business focused on connecting African businesses to global markets.
In a video highlighting the company’s journey, Daya’s co-founders, Tomiwa “Aleph” Lasebikan and Paul Joe, shared insights into the company’s development, vision, and ambition to create stronger connections between African enterprises and international business opportunities.
The company represents one of the businesses featured in the Boost Africa initiative, which supports the growth of innovative enterprises through investments in venture capital funds rather than direct financing alone.
By combining financial support with technical assistance, Boost Africa aims to equip entrepreneurs with the resources and professional guidance required to scale their businesses, explore new markets and contribute to economic development.
The initiative is a joint effort of the EIB and AfDB, backed by the European Union, to strengthen Africa’s investment ecosystem and encourage innovation across key sectors.
The EIB’s spotlight on Daya further highlights the importance of investment partnerships in helping African entrepreneurs transform business ideas into sustainable enterprises with the potential to compete internationally.
