On Monday, a road crash occurred along the Agaie-Lapai road, which resulted in the death of four people, while 13 people were injured and rushed to the General Hospital.
The accident involved three trailer trucks that had a head-on collision resulting from speeding.
“The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has reported a road accident that took place on February 3, 2025, in Agaie Local Government Area along the Agaie–Lapai road, near Al’Farma International School, Agaie. The crash involved a head-on collision between three trailer trucks, one of which was transporting cattle and goats. The accident was attributed to reckless overtaking. Tragically, the incident claimed four lives—two individuals died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Additionally, about 15 cattle and more than 20 goats were killed in the crash,” the statement read.
According to Director General, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, he stated that as of the time of this report, 13 injured individuals have been taken to Agaie General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. NSEMA’s desk officer in Agaie, along with volunteers, carried out the rescue operations.
