NIGERIA- The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has felicitated with newly elected leaders and members of the 10th National Assembly.
This is coming just as the former Defence Minister stated that despite the plurality of the Assembly, members owe a duty to perform as Nigerians will no longer condone ineptitude and non-performance.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Media Office, the former Kano State governor urged the members to maintain the spirit of brotherhood that kept them together.
“Let me extend my heartfelt felicitations to my brother and colleague, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Jubril Barau who have been elected as President and Deputy President of the Senate.
“In the same token, let me extend same to my brothers Honourables Tajudeen Abbas and Okezie Kalu and other newly elected members of the National Assembly,” he said
He added that elections are over, saying they owed it a duty to work for the progress of the country as an Assembly.
He added that it was only when the country is united that a lot of progress can be made.
“I watched with profound joy as members of the new National Assembly set aside various differences of religion, ethnicity, and partisanship to elect their leaders in a rancor-free atmosphere.
“This is the spirit that I want and wishes them to take into their work as a collective as Nigerians will no longer condone ineptitude and non-performance,” he said.
He added that “The period of partisan politics has ended and serious governance should commence as Nigerians are expectant.”
