President Joe Biden has vowed that Hamas will pay for killing American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was recently confirmed dead after being abducted in a Hamas attack.
Biden expressed devastation and outrage at Goldberg-Polin’s death, condemning the actions of Hamas and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to securing the release of remaining hostages.
Goldberg-Polin, a 23-year old, was abducted at a music festival in southern Israel during Hamas’ October 7 attack and was killed alongside five other hostages shortly before Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) could reach them, according to IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.
Fox News reports that their bodies were recovered Saturday in tunnels under Rafah.
Goldberg-Polin’s family and friends had campaigned globally for his release, meeting with world leaders, including officials in the Biden administration.
Vice President Kamala Harris also condemned Hamas, calling it an “evil terrorist organization” and extended her condolences to Goldberg-Polin’s loved ones.
Biden emphasized the U.S. commitment to continue working tirelessly to secure a deal for the remaining hostages’ release.
