The 2027 general elections, insecurity, and Nigeria’s economic challenges will take centre stage at the seventh annual lecture of Freedom Online, scheduled to hold on September 3 in Lagos.
The organisers said the event would examine some of the major security and socio-economic challenges confronting the country, with particular emphasis on the threats posed by insecurity before, during and after the 2027 elections.
According to a statement by the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Freedom Online, Gabriel Akinadewo, the decision to focus on insecurity was informed by its growing impact on Nigeria’s stability and development.
The lecture is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine how insecurity could affect the electoral process, economic activities and citizens’ participation in the 2027 elections.
Discussions will also focus on Nigeria’s wider economic difficulties and possible strategies for addressing the challenges threatening the country’s development and stability.
The organisers said the annual lecture would bring together relevant stakeholders to engage in discussions on the issues and explore practical solutions to some of the challenges facing the nation.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the event is expected to contribute to the ongoing national conversation on security, democratic participation, economic recovery and Nigeria’s future.
