Police Officer Killed As Bandits Attack Katsina LG Chair’s Residence

On Tuesday, suspected bandits attacked the residence of Maharazu Dayi, the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, resulting in the death of a police officer.

The assailants shot Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, who was later taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that security personnel were swiftly mobilized to the scene. However, despite efforts to save the officer, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“We have arrested three suspects in connection with the attack, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” said the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq.

While it remains uncertain if there were additional casualties, security operatives successfully prevented the assailants from breaking into the residence.

An eyewitness, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the chairman and his family were inside the house during the attack.
