The Rhodes Yoga Festival, recently celebrated its second edition of an annual health and wellness event.
The event in alignment with the international Yoga Day celebration on June 22, 2024, featured a 21-day online yoga challenge and its grand event at the JJT park, Alausa Ikeja Lagos.
According to the convener, Erimoroti Motolani Aransiola the 21-day wellness event engages participants on instagram and other social media platforms with different yoga teachers from Nigeria and around the world.
She noted that, this dynamic approach was aimed to enhance flexibility and strength across major joints and body parts
The event saw over 180 registered participants, with more than 100 attendees on-site and 50 online.
Meanwhile, the festival received financial and product sponsorship from generous organizations and individuals such as GMCKS, Pranic Healing Center, Pocarisweat, Golden penny, IAMFIT, EatwithTessa, Brandy my Dp and others.
The festival also focused on empowering teenage girls through Yoga and mentorship to help them stay in school and build a brighter future. This year, the RhodesYoga Festival focused on #ProjectWalkwithMe, aiming to empower 200 teenage girls through Yoga, mentorship, and essential support. The initiative provided yoga session, life skills training, and three-month sanitary packages to help girls stay in school and build brighter future.
Arasnsiola called for generous contributions from well meaning individuals to support the transformative project.
She said, “Your help will empower girls with soft skills and mental awareness skills, provided a supportive network of mentors and ensure menstural hygiene and school attendance”.
Other members of the festival organizing committee include Aduke Oderemi of YogabyAduke Social Media manager and team lead, Babatunde Olusanya of Lifelongfitness- Festival Finance, Olabowale Olosunde of WALEFIT-HUB- Festival Communications Manager, and Anuoluwapo Idris of Harnufitwellnesshub- Project Team Leader.
